We can resettle the Southern liberals and moderates in the plain states.

    •  Fuck No. (19+ / 0-)

My forefathers did not fight and bleed to keep this country together just to have some idiots come along and tear it apart in the name of stupidity.

If Texas left today, they would be the next Mexico tomorrow, I guarantee it.   If other southern states left they may get it in their head to raid the north out of some misbegotten sense of outrage that they traded away the only good thing they had going for a freedom they aren't even willing to grant each OTHER much less protect the way the U.S does.

Fuck No.  I don't care if they agree.  I don't care if they don't like it.  Let THEM move to some other country.  Let THEM leave.

This is our country as much as theirs, and I'll be damned if I"m willing to let THEM take it from us.  Let THEM being wiling to cut the baby in half, then we'll see who truely loves their country and who's only pretending.

I applaud your willingness to treat them rationally.

        •  It has nothing to do with rationality. (14+ / 0-)

I endured 8 years of George W Bush and I remember people pissing and moaning that they were going to leave the country and I would always stand up and say "To hell with that!  This is my country and they can take it from my cold dead hands".

It is an absolute perversion that people who talk about "Real Americans" don't even consider THEMSELVES Americans.  They consider themselves confederates (or Alaskans for the people up north who long for seccession).  They can all run into the sea as far as I'm concerned.  Let them lash together a floating country if it pleases them.  The confederacy is DEAD and these sons of sons of dead men keep humping its rotting corpse like it were their one true love and they have NO CLUE.

They would rather split the nation than accept the notion that they're idiots and bigots and that's why everyone else doesn't want them to decide the direction of the U.S.

are still in love with Ronnie. As far as I'm concerned they're all missing a marble or two.
I'm southern born and raised and I refuse to give in to the crazies too.
Their biggest fear is about to come true anyway. They are about to become the minority population. I'm anxious to see the ethnic breakdown of the census.

          •  I'm from the south, and I agree with you. (4+ / 0-)

The farthest north I've ever lived is the Atlanta suburbs. This is our country as much as the Teabaggers'.

argument that the Confederacy could not and never did exist. Because, of course, if the Union could not and was not ever dissolved, there never was and could never be any national government other than the US government.

Therefore, the so-called Confederate States of America, for which many of my ancestors fought and died, was a figment of the fevered imaginations of a whole bunch of rich plantation owners without a grain of sense.

Who, of course, turned to us plain folks to do the fighting and dying for them. Which we did. I'm still mad about it and poor old great great grandfather Henry Hiram Smith, who died in April 1863 at Vicksburg, would be mad too, if he were still alive, may he rest in peace.

Hell widdem. I am for seceding from the secessionists. All in favor???
