  •  At most neo-Confed's can have some Texas badlands (8+ / 0-)

No way those asshole fuckers get the whole god-damned South.  There's not enough of them, and they ain't worth a shit, no ways.

A majority of the nation's African Americans live in the South, as well as a huge portion of Latinos and urban liberals.

The neo-Confedatards don't get the whole South.  Period.

I'd argue that we should get Florida and Louisiana.

southern good ol' boys are still present, but a minority in the cities. Get out in the country, however, and I still see a lot of literature boosting secession and how the feds are oppressors.

Couldn't believe it when I first saw it, but yeah, going on 200 years after the buildup to the civil war, there a lot of people in the south who think the south should still go its own way.

    •  Oye, El Cid-- how about they all move to (0+ / 0-)

Are you ready??? Weslaco, Texas. A resort destination if there ever was one. West Texas is lovely this time of year. Well, not really, but housing is really, really cheap there. Well, kinda if you don't mind living in West Texas.

Weslaco is in Deep South Texas, not West Tx.
As in a couple of miles North of the Rio Grande, about 50 miles West of the Gulf of Mexico. In the Lower Rio Grande Valley, hundreds of miles from what is considered West Texas. The Valley is a fairly green and pleasant place to live, used to be a lot better.

BTW, Weslaco means W.E. Stewart Land Company, developed as an early 1900's agricultural land marketing promo to Northerners.

And it is a resort area (of the budget kind), among other things (pop. is about 85% Hispanic).
From Sept/Oct to about April/May it is just eat up with really bad driving damn yankee snowbirds, like the rest of the Valley. It's got more RV parks than you can imagine. But yeah, stick housing is relatively cheaper down there than most places, lots of retirees around.

Being a native of the area, I'm a bit touchy I guess. Tx is a big place, lots of climates and different geography, many who live here don't realize the scope of it.
As far as knocking Texas, go right ahead, I get more embarrassed every week, what with Gov. Blowdry, the SBoE and the rest, let alone Dumbya and co. It might turn around though and turn a little blue soon (a Gov. White would help a lot).

Nothin' wrong at all. It're really just that the ones who make all the noise are talkin' trash. Good people are good where ever they are, it's a fact. You know, people from SWGA aren't exactly an elite group! :-)  Whaddaya nt
