    I don't see a bunch of domestic conscripts doing much other than shirking or much like my college experience, spending full-time looking for oppotunities to goof off, get drunk, or get laid.

      Was to have Army run it.  Army drill instructors aren't going to let anyone goof off.  I know the CCC boys faced unemployment if they got discharged, but, having survived 9 weeks of Navy boot camp, the most horrible nighmarish hellish 9 weeks of my life, I have the utmost confidence in our military drill instructors not to take shit from any punk college kids.

        times, much tougher, and even the CCC boys as they were called, had a reputation for being wild.

        to run off and be unemployed.

        No real comparison to "mandatory national service".

        Having spent two years in the California Conservation Corps not that long ago, I can tell you that such programs can still work.

        But they only work with volunteers.

        Satrap Wanted. Lawless Central Asian region needs firm hand. Compensation paid in Opium, or an equal weight in Catamites. Must stay bought!
