based on nothing other than my termite-filled guts:

The GOP base enthusiasm for voting is going to follow a similar curve to Beck's viewership. They have been spun up, and outraged - but recent inactivity at Congressional town halls indicates that the fervor is starting to die off. To paraphrase the always-quotable WS Churchill,

Never before have so many been so outraged by so little

That level of emotional high is hard to sustain.

Nate Silver's chart over on 538 shows that current Democratic enthusiasm for voting would be a record for an off-year election, were it not for the stratospheric numbers currently being reported by the GOP.

But I think we've got momentum, and they are going to have a hard time getting everyone all outraged for climate change, and outraged for immigration, and then outraged again in time to vote.

That's why it won't happen until after the elections.

It's going to be financial reform and jobs for the next few months.

Make it hard on the republicans to be against jobs and for the banks right before the election.

Today's problems are yesterday's solutions. Don Beck

But at the GOP. That plan would pay dividends. They'll either stay home, or split their vote.
