    I don't think anyone here has tried to argue that the tea party group is DEVOID of racism.  Obviously not.  The few voices of dissent, who are usually denounced as apologists or something like that, are usually people who are wary of labeling everyone in the movement with a broad brush--or attributing individual political sentiments to racism in all cases.

    I agree with anyone who says that saying things like "These are racists" is not helpful.

      I still think any politician, even Barack Obama, outright disses the Tea Party at their own peril.  Elements in the tea party maybe.  I think the president was right to comment on how they're upset about the economy and not get into a pissing match with the people who want to see his birth certificate.

      But as for the rest of us: yeah, they're racist as all living hell!  

      But more seriously: dealing with the teabaggers is like trying to figure out terrorists.  No one is convinced we can change their minds, but we can at least try to interfere with them as they try to recruit moderates or others to their cause.

      The only part of my country I'm ashamed of, is Sean Hannity.
