    Plus one now... mine.

I hope this doesnt discourage you from writing about this.

Maybe make it a bit shorter next time...

People seem to like to debate for hours about the civility of this blog (fer the luvva!) but not so much the killing of civilians... or being ensnared within a civil war... or the ending of our involvement in this war...

    Thanks for your contribution.

Unfortunately, the Dems are more a machine than individuals standing up and standing out... when their position differs from their leader and the conventional wisdom... which really isnt much different than the GOP's (with a bit less chest beating), when it comes to supporting war (two thirds of the Dem senate did, on Iraq invasion) for no just cause.

Afghanistan wont comply in giving us a war victory. Whatever military "victory" there was for the winning, it was "won" in the initial phase... they wont get any more out of it than that... (with a lot of war crimes, like Bagram torture-homicides and Convoy of Death mass slaughter of prisoners, under our military's eye, countless civilian deaths, etc and on and on...)

But they will drag it on and on due to our complacent public's permission for them to keep on killing to save face.

That is all it is now. War to save face.

It occurs to me that behind Obama's strategy, they may be hoping to get their "win" a la another Surge "success" like in Iraq (not a success... anyone here want to live there? Stroll in the markets?) and then be far cleverer than Bush and get most of them out (leaving some "control" forces behind) while it looks good. Then, when it inevitably regresses to shit later on, they can pretend we left with a win, it's not their fault the homeboys and their corrupt leader, our unfortunate partner, Karzai, fucked it up... ah well... it was Bush's war anyway... Obama did his best...

They are hoping to spin a win... to save American face, that of their leader and party.

    But they will fail.

Sad they will leave so many dead on the way to that inevitable end. The war is over... Now, can someone please tell the warriors...?

Should a "progressive" Dem blog dwell in the safe zones of a tame party, or should it drive a tame party to break out?
