    Lots of snark in the comments, but I didn't see any business model analysis.  I don't know the pharmacy retail business, but excluding just the list of items wouldn't seem like a deal breaker to me.  

    Then I found this in the linked article:

    Plus, DMC never got into the heavy retail items, such as cosmetics, toys and fast food, that help keep similar pharmacies afloat.

    Hello! There it is.  And those items also increase traffic and revenues.   I expect the only way this kind of pharmacy could survive is if it was located next to a complex of physician offices, where people drop in only to buy Rx.

    I don't wonder that the store failed.  I wonder who would invest $350,000 without doing a reality-based study whether this store could survive.  What were the investors thinking?
