  •  First thing from Halter I haven't agreed with. (8+ / 0-)

I want Lincoln to flame out and I think he will be a good Senator. But Tarp was a politically odious but probably correct policy decision. I actually was opposed to it but had my doubts. Not passing it would have been a gamble and probably not one we should have made.

and this clearly shows that Lincoln voted FOR business and AGAINST labor - repeatedly.

This is a very smart strategy.  And it's not Bill Halter's campaign putting it out - as I understand it this "BailoutBlanche" site is independent like Firedoglake is independent.

as per the bottom of the website.

To that extent, I think it's a mistake.

But to the extent that it makes people ask Halter, "So, what would you have done?  what's your solution?"  I think that it's a great opportunity.  Halter gets to speak into the void and explain himself, which invites more attention.

And the bank bailouts (especially for New York banks and "Wall Street") are hugely unpopular.

Arkansas finance (and much of the South) is incensed that we had to clean up the mess from New York and the mortgage foreclosure crises in California, Arizona, Florida, etc.  And they're angry that we squandered the opportunity created during the 1990s.

I think this is a very smart strategic move.  But I don't know if I'm in agreement that Halter's campaign should have spent its time and attention with the negative attacks - especially if they don't have a better solution.
