    Arguments. Reasons. Points. Let's have them.

    •  Why not simply make the path to citizenship (0+ / 0-)

      for H-1s easier. Allow them to obtain citizenship in return for a slightly higher tax rate during their first 5 years of citizenship.

      Labor shortage solved. Boost in overall revenue achieved.

        But as I said, the current H1 system makes the employee an indentured servant to his employer. They should just be allowed to do whatever they want as long as they are able to demonstrate, within reason, that they are gainfully employed the whole time they are here, and contribute that surtax to 'buy' their freedom in 5 years.

          they're only supposed to be here when their employers have looked for citizens to fill jobs and have been unable to find them.
