    when it comes to it, it is more precise to write '24' than it is to write '24.000000000000' and the number of zeroes is irrelevant.

    Without that decimal point, we know it is exactly 24, and not an approximation, no matter how precise.

      precise number, because they occur in discrete units - but the number of seconds can only be estimated (nowadays, to the tenth of a second in basketball).  Thus, 3 significant digits is pretty much the limit that can be used in the example provided (assuming a countdown from 59.9 seconds), so any digits past 24.0 is incorrect.

      And, good luck on getting that stuff banned.
