    ...I think a long and healthy history of interacting with first-year law students is a great characteristic for an incoming Justice.

    I have no evidence to this effect, but my initial hunch is that sort of experience relating everything back to case law and First Principles makes it easier to walk through the logic of an opinion, and craft opinions that are more readable (especially in comparison to ones done by persons who've spent decades discussing esoteric matters mostly with clerks and practitioners).
