    If you or I made a lower fat clam chowder we'd just just cut down on the cream. It would still taste pretty good, but it wouldn't look and taste quite as rich as the full fat type.

    These guys instead replace the cream with vegetable oil, and god knows what to keep it looking like clam chowder. They add also extra starch and sugar, trying to make it taste better, or at least satisfy people's addictions to such. THEN they do the regular processed food tricks to keep it cheap and give it a long shelf life.

    You want to eat better? Learn to cook.
