    Put a lot of energy into soil building, and had great tomatoes, cabbage, lettuce, kale, herbs, etc (I also live in Seattle).

    Then we had to move to a new house and have much less space for gardening, mostly in the front yard...not knowing if I will be here for more than a few months, its hard to get enthusiastic about starting all over again. That said, I have planted a few lettuce and cabbages, but I have no idea what the soil is like.

    We compost our food in bins (we're all raw vegans) but it doesn't seem to produce finished compost fast enough, so at the other house I had to supplement with store bought compost.

    Anyway, I totally agree and thanks for the inspiration. I'll probably end up expanding the garden, as it seems to be my nature -- I just have to learn to be ok with doing things on a smaller scale.
