I'll grant you that the DLC can't stand much of what FDL does and reports.  Then there are Progressives like me who have fought the DLC tooth and nail since its inception.  When I was a Kennedy Delegate at a Democratic Party Conference years ago when Clinton and his cronies were forming the DLC, we actually passed out a cartoon that showed prominent Dems dressing up in an Elephant Costume with the Caption: "Is this the way you want our party to go?"

What ticks me off about FDL (and many things tick me off in everyone) is that they appear to have too many scathing, scorched earth criticisms of other Dems.  I think it is fine....and desireable to criticise Dems (it makes us stronger) but the circular firing squad is not my way.

Also, the Grover Norquist thing ticked me off too.

However, when you were a Kennedy delegate, I'm wondering what your rhetoric would have sounded like if Clinton was seeking the ability to assassinate American citizens with impunity? To hold people without charge for the rest of their lives in direct contravention of the fundamental principle of Habeus Corpus? To render the Justice Department inoperative as regards observance of the Geneva Conventions?

As for the Grover thing: I'm wondering if you predicate your signing of any given petition upon who else may also be signing. Seems like an easy way to contravene the people's right to petition their government if all that is required is that someone loathsome also signs the petition as well; a sort of assigned rotten apple or guy in the barrel to preemptively spike any redress of grievance over unpopular policy choices.

It would be well to remembetr that that is precisely how Glenn Beck elected to discredit Van jones; he signed a petition.

A Republican is someone who can't enjoy his privileged position unless he is certain that somewhere, someone is in excruciating agony. I Love OCD
