  •  Congratulations on your new assignment (6+ / 0-)

and living quarters, Louise. I don't have any medical problems that cause me to be overweight - just medical problems caused by my being overweight. Years ago I bought hypnosis CDs to help with, among other things, the negative self-talk, but I only used them a short time. I think I'll go see if I can find them and try again.

I used to wonder why somebody didn't do something, then I realized I am somebody.- unknown

because  I don't know how many times I got stared down with disgust from  A MEDICAL DOCTOR when I said my thyroid was not acting normally and that I believed my weight gain had something to do with my metabolism.  20 years later the right endocrinologist with the right training gave me the prescription I've needed for 20 years.  So was I right to turn back on myself because a doctor told me I was denying that I was overeating and not taking care of myself?  Are you right to turn on yourself because the only thing you suffer from is a compulsion?  Are compulsions less worthy problems that deserve blame and condemnation.  I mean - really?  are they?  No. they are far more necessary to deal with in the means that we have here - through mutual support and encouragement.  NOT recrimination.
