    I'd say it makes us little better than them. But that's not the point. It distracts us from the structural inequities which allow both police brutality and anti-trans discrimination. A few convictions won't change that. At the very least - to mitigate, not solve the problem - it would require something to hold the department accountable when individuals can't be. Or would require documentation of abuse whenever it happens. It would require other well-motivated parties to be able to monitor the department.
