    Frankly, I thought that was a mistake.  Theo Faron (Clive Owen) made a conscious leap of faith in taking charge of getting Kee to the rendezvous point, and died before that faith was vindicated.  That's where it should have ended, with Kee bobbing up and down in a tiny boat on the waves.  A meditation on despair, desperation, hope and faith.  Then whether or not Kee will be rescued and/or humanity will be saved is a reflection of the audience.
