    trying to make political hay out of this... I understand the opposition to expanded drilling, and I certainly support that stance, but be careful about drawing too-facile conclusions from this.  It's dangerous work, but as far as I can tell the entire upstream petroleum industry hasn't clocked more than single-digit fatalities per year in the past decade; this outfit in particular has a stellar record for worker safety.  Furthermore the exploratory drilling was taking place in a region that was already open to drilling, not an area affected by the recently eased ban.  Accidents sometimes happen, and this one had tragic consequences.

    I completely support the drive to shift away from drilling towards cleaner, renewable industry.  That's not my complaint.  Just be careful about taking things out of context to make an argument where one shouldn't be.
