    and I can hear your respect for your students shining through. It's a labor of love to take each child as they are as they walk through your door, and I really appreciate that there are teachers like you who do.

    I know it is hard to fathom that children would choose to be responsible and want to learn the skills they need to function as an adult without being required to by a parent or teacher or school. But having seen hundreds of unschooled children grow up, I can tell you it is by far the rule rather than the exception that they do.

    They often do go through a somewhat "dormant" period during puberty when sometimes parents begin to worry that they'll never do anything but eat and sleep and hang out with friends for the rest of their lives, but it is a magical thing to watch them come out of those days and embrace life's challenges with amazing determination.
