...with Henry retiring at the end of this term, it's very likely that the Republican'ts will take over the governorship in this heavily Republican they'll have to do is pass it again...unless, of course, the Democrats can somehow get enough people elected in one of the state's two legislative bodies between now and then. At least there's hope for the time being, however.

      1. This isn't a heavily Republican state. It's a heavily conservative state. I believe there are still more registered Democrats than Republicans in Oklahoma (though a huge chunk of those Democrats tend to vote Republican).
      1. The majority of Democrats in the state legislature voted for these measures that Henry just vetoed.
      1. It is likely that Republicans will win the governorship this year. But it's much more likely that Dems will be able to hold on to that position than to retake either house of the legislature.  Mary Fallin is certainly favored vs. Edmondson or Askins (the two Democratic gubernatorial candidates), but I've never seen anyone suggest that there's a snowballs chance in hell for the Democrats to take the House or the Senate.

      •  I applaud you for your persistence (0+ / 0-)

in trying to educate people in this thread as to the reality of Okla. politics.  I'm afraid too many people will not listen.

GreenSooner lives in Oklahoma, people. Listen.

I live in WV, a heavily Dem state and yet a conservative state, so I grok you GS.

Is Andrew Rice running for anything this time around?
