    ...advantage in registration in this state.

    And until 2006, Democrats had controlled both houses of the state legislature for all but four years of the state's history.

    But these are not the kind of Democrats y'all are used to (which is why I very emphatically took the second option in that poll).

    Henry's been ok. And he's been a particularly useful counterweight to legislative insanity like this on many occasions (though he's also signed some pretty awful stuff into law...including on reproductive rights issues).  

    But a majority of Democrats in the legislature voted for these bills.  HB 2780 passed the House by a vote of 87-7 and the Senate by a vote of 35-11. HB 2656 passed the House by a vote of 94-4 and the Senate by a vote of 35-11.   There are 39 Democrats in the House and 22 in the Senate.

    And these awful bills will likely become law on the basis of truly bipartisan overrides of Henry's vetoes.
