    I know it's considered a classic sci-fi novel, and rightly so, but I tried to read it and just couldn't get through it.

      The Known Space universe is very entertaining though, and I recommend reading the other books in it, including the Man-Kzin Wars franchise books.  Lots of fun.

      I found the characters fascinating, and the truly alienness, non human aspect of them was well done and always wanted to make me see it on film but then made me think it wouldn't work on film. On the other hand, Babylon 5 TV series did a nice job with those kind of aliens that felt very non human.

      The Great Recession is a happy happy joy joy time to drop your obsolete skills and train for new ones.
