    •  Okay, So stop treating Mexicans like criminals (7+ / 0-)

just for trying to make a better life for themselves and their children in America.

We are either going to have to welcome Mexicans as equals or we are going to have perpetual issues with illegal immigration. We can't lock them out forever without compromising our American character, as the AZ law does.

The economic disparity is too great to keep Mexicans out and the economic incentives for Americans are too great to enforce the laws consistently.

There is a reason why things are the way they are.

      Another law won't change much.

It's time to talk about welcoming Mexicans rather than keeping them out.

We shall overcome, someday. Yes we can.

      •  Yes, the illegals are desperate (0+ / 0-)

and so are the workers in Arizona who back this law!  Employment is 20% and will at least languish at that level for a long time.  Either we need to give everyone a job, somehow get rid of millions of people, or wait until the Southwest explodes in Balkans-like violence.  What's your solution?

        •  Create jobs that can't be outsourced to Asia (6+ / 0-)

That's where so many of our good paying jobs went. The working class shouldn't have to fight over minimum wage (or less) jobs. Investment in solar power seems to be just one obvious route. We could power ourselves and neighbors, manufacture the technology and export around the country and world.

        •  Immigrants are good for the AZ economy (0+ / 0-)

if they are allowed to assimilate.

They work, earn, save and spend. They used to buy homes. About 6,000,000 people live in AZ and at least 500,000 of them are illegals.

Yes they take jobs, but they also create markets, eventually.

We shall overcome, someday. Yes we can.
