    People ate up all the blue pike in the Great Lakes, so we know it is possible to eat a species into extinction.

    This might be an instance where posting a recipe on dKos might be helpful.

    This comment is partially snark and partially a desperate attempt to find a silver lining in this cloud.

      inedible. Too many fine bones. They are considered a trash fish.

        So even if they were good eating, it's not likely that we'd fish them to extinction.

        And, as I've also seen argued, if they were good eating - and were seen as a cash crop - they'd be imported into many other lake systems as well.
