    I don't think I've ever agreed with Scalia before. This is... weird.

    The signers of the R-71 petition are doing one thing, and one thing only... trying to keep their bigotry a secret. Turn on the light and they all scurry for cover... like cockroaches. It's disgusting.

    If you're going to sign a petition, you should be proud of your viewpoint. If you're proud of your viewpoint, stop hiding in the shadows in anonymity.

          Separation of Powers issue for Scalia? It's not that he doesn't want criminals to get long, harsh sentences, (the reason many liberals oppose mandatory sentences,) it's just that sentencing criminals is a judge's job, and the Constitution doesn't grant Congress the power to tell the Judiciary how to do it's job.
