First, because this is an issue that affects every one of us.

And second, for being a great example of a diary in which the diarist and posters listened to each other, discussed and clarified their points, and we all benefited and learned.

I've written my Senators about the importance of this bill - with the necessity of adding the Tester amendment.

Agree we need to ban BPA - but let that be separate. The smart - or maybe just international - companies aren't lobbying. They know that after the bans on BPA in Europe, we'll eventually drag ourselves there, so they're already screaming "BPA Free" on their products.

(Have you ever wondered that the one thing that might be good to outsource might be our FDA approval system. Other countries seem to do a much better job.)

And, please, yes, let's keep the FDA and the USDA out of each others pockets, Big AG and Pharma.

Now is the time for all good men to come to. - Pogo

first I appreciate the kind words

second I have thought that maybe other countries do a better job of regulating food and food safety.  that said, other countries are not immune to food-borne illness.  Europe has a much higher incidence of mad cow disease for example.

third, agreed that Big Ag and Big Pharma are the biggest culprits, except maybe for the politicians that allow themselves to be bought
