If I count correctly - the non-partisan all-inclusive blue-ribbon representative committee has  only 3 women (Rivlin, Fudge and Schakowski) and only one rep from a minority group (Beccera)?

What is wrong with this picture?

I mean, I don't expect from the GOP to appoint anyone who is not rich white male who couldn't care less about social security and Medicare since he would probabaly never need them.

    But the Democrats?

Also, a member named Fudge in a committee that deals with numbers? (sorry, couldn't help it).

    •  You have a point, but (0+ / 0-)

I'm a lot more focussed on what the panelists' attitudes toward SS and Medicare are, than their sex or race.

Who'd you rather have on this panel, white guys Robert Reich and Paul Krugman, or Rivlin and Fudge? Al Franken, or Blanche Lincoln?

And speaking as someone who grew up with a difficult name (I couldn't wait to change it when I got married), I have to admit some sympathy for Fudge.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.
