    Ohio would never elect an extremely liberal Senator, much less two of them.

      That was then, this is now.

      Metzenbaum was first elected during the reaction to Nixon, in the Carter election. That is not in any way, shape or form similar to things now.  While OH may elect a second Democrat, that is not going to be easy.

      I am a nativist, and that is a progressive position.

        Senator for 35 of the last 37 years, with opportunities every six years to replace him with a "centrist" senator - and has not.
