  •  I took nutrition classes -- but I'm no cook! (4+ / 0-)

Any cooks out there?  How about "SNAP: Feeding 4 on a Food Stamp Budget."  Maybe a few months worth of meal plans/recipes for folks like me who aren't good cooks and have a hard time figuring out how to keep meals varied, delicious and nutritious.

I've got plenty of cookbooks -- but the recipes so often call for items I don't ordinarily have on hand that would be a waste of money.

I'm actually feeding 3 -- but since 4 is the standard -- go with 4.  I'm looking forward to the book -- now -- so somebody get busy!

Distribute it when people sign up for the program.

We should make nutrition classes more practical. Aim them at the parents of young children and at young adults. Give them the skills to prepare good, nutritious food cheaply.
Chilis, soups, stews, stir-fries, omelettes, underappreciated and inexpensive veggies(kale, brussel sprouts, etc.).

We learned how to make party food at my school-I'm not sure of the value in making mini-cheesecakes and cocktail weenies.
      It's a wasted opportunity.
Teach 'em how to make homemade pizza dough, or how to roast vegetables, make a risotto...
All can be incredibly inexpensive, healthy and delicious.

      The Republicans are coming...
