  •  There's a happy ending (10+ / 0-)

Three of them, all with tails wagging. The dog I got out for lived years after Bob and first made Charles feel welcome here at Paradux Hill. In fact, when he died almost four years ago now, his head was cradled on my lap and his body on Charles's; Charles had just gotten to work when I called him and told him that he needed to meet me at the vet's office and he flew there. Bonehead died and brought himself back to life three separate times during the hour that I was waiting for Charles. That wouldn't have happened even once, let alone three times, if Charles hadn't loved him as much as I did.

Charles stays up to feed them at night so I can get on the dialysis machine. Charles cleans out the cat box every single time. Charles fixes the fence every time Bitty Dog gets through it or under it again, including earlier this evening. Charles didn't even complain (much) when he was sound asleep after comforting me a month ago, the night I found out that my sister had been disqualified as my donor after 2 1/2 years, when I let one dog jump on the bed on one side of me, another one get up between the two of us, and so that one's 85 or so pound brother decided that HE had to go stand on Charles's chest and kiss him. Charles loves OUR guys and every one of them loves him.

In him, I have the right partner, and not just for me, for all my guys.

Living kidney donor needed; type B, O, or incompatible (with paired donation). Drop me a note (see profile).
