  •  The two sides are far apart (4+ / 0-)

Right now the two sides are pretty far apart, but with everyone's help we can bring the most amount of pressure to bear that's possible.

We do have backup plans we're developing but right now we're proud to stand with these workers and we're going to keep doing what we can to help and turn up the heat.

    •  Definitely do our best. (1+ / 0-)

No doubt. The workers deserve nothing less. In fact, we should keep up the pressure even if Netroots goes elsewhere, so that we could potentially be there in future years.

Or if it falls through, do we move to Boston or someplace it's easier finding union help that didn't have pay cut for no reason?

Or is there a reason (e.g. if the hotel is bleeding cash, cutting pay may be what is required to keep them in business).  Did management get their salaries cut 20% as well?

I once worked for a company that cut salaries for everyone 10% - from top to bottom.  That was easier to swallow than a selective cut.

If the workers don't get a fair deal, we'll be moving on to some of our alternatives and we won't be in Providence in 2011.

To my knowledge there were no cuts at the management level. RI Future has been doing some great reporting on what's been going on.
