  •  i've had to be on the pill for the past 10 yrs... (10+ / 0-)

prescribed to prevent build up of my endometriosis...insurance company did not cover contraception (of course) so i had to fight because i was taking it for a medical condition, not pregnancy prevention...eventually, they covered a portion of it. of course, that company ended up pulling out of illinois last year (not PROFITABLE enuff)...leaving us with ONE major insurer (bcbs)...who jacked up my rates (again) and dropped my prescription coverage all together. so i am back to paying full freight for it -- as well as my own self-insured premiums. soon i will have to drop insurance (at the very age i need it) because my income is not keeping pace with insurance rates, even with junk (5k deductible) plan.

    •  Go to Planned Parenthood. (7+ / 0-)

When I took the pill and didn't have a regular doctor, I went to the local Planned Parenthood clinic.

Once they know you, you can stop by and pick up pills without an appointment as long as you have a pelvic exam at some point (I think it was every third or sixth month, but it's been so long, I honestly don't remember). AND, they are significantly cheaper than the pills you get at your local pharmacy.

At least, that's the way it used to be. I hear/read that it is still like that, but I have no recent personal experience. You should call or look them up online.

Who's your insurance company?  I'd like to give them a piece of my mind.

      IN-SANE!!!
