    Actually, there's quite a lot of it, especially in the north. The Washoe River--which flows out of Tahoe, through downtown Reno, then into the desert and out into Pyramid Lake--has farmland and ranches along almost its entire length.

    Also, Fallon, about 30 miles east of Reno, used to be famous for its cantaloupes; they still celebrate a cantaloupe festival every year. They also grow corn and alfalfa.

    And every other place in the north that gets any water has something growing there. No chickens that I know of, though.
