  •  Sir, (0+ / 0-)

My name is Heather and my husband, Dan, was a US Vietnam vet who survived torture. Daan suffered from his injuries for over thirty years, until his fatal heart attack almost five years ago. Dan left me the mission to stop torture as the law, policy and practice of the United States, and to fight to have those responsible held legally accountable.

My question is: What will you do to stop torture and have thise responsible held legally accountable?

          Standing for justice and accountability,
                   for Dan,

Planning a March for Legal Accountability for Torture in Washington, DC, September 4th, 2010, the Saturday of Labour Day Weekend.

Heather, as a former military man myself I find the practice deplorable both against our men and women as well as sanctioned by our nation.

The laws that were circumvented by the previous administration have been re-instituted with an even stronger "tough on torture" stance. Unfortunately, that will not stop those who capture our service members from committing these heinous acts.

As a member of Congress I will stand with our service men and women to ensure that any treatment outside of the Codes of Conduct as laid out under the Geneva Convention will be met with swift and severe consequences.
