    historically disingenuous "Team of Rivals". The book failed to adequately point out that the team of rivals imploded very quickly, and was excoriated by historians for it.

      He had Thomas Jefferson as Secretary of State and Alexander Hamilton as Secretary of the Treasury. They couldn't stand each other, hated each other's ideas, kept playing tug-of-war with George in the middle, and finally both left before Washington left office.

      Washington was arguably the best we've ever had at getting egomaniacal prima donnas to work together - and he had his failures. This was one of them.
