    end up 'self-extinguishing' instead becoming convenient drop off points for people without the time, resources or desire to find a no-kill shelter.  Here's another article from the wildlife conservation perspective that I hope you'll read:

    This IS a heartfelt diary but when people are being asked to contribute money to causes that have serious negative consequences for wildlife, they need to understand or at least be aware of what they are supporting.  From what I've read, despite the desire of feral cat colony managers to monitor and provide healthcare to cats, it's often impossible to retrap them, leading to lack of vaccinations , susceptibility to parasites, disease and predation by larger animals (coyotes, for instance, are present even in urban areas).
