  •  Welllllll, I'm not so sure I agree with the (3+ / 0-)

    settled law thing. iirc the NFA has only had a single SC challenge and that was settled on the military usage of the weapon in question (SBS) and as our military uses SBS today, I'm not sure how any court could say they have no military utility.

    Other than that, I have way more problems with the 68 GCA and the 86 full auto import/manufacture ban than the NFA......

      to follow it, and the post-86 registry was opened, I'd agree with you about the NFA.

      What we're going to need, though, is a level of scrutiny for gun laws, and that has to come from SCOTUS. the McDonald case doesn't directly go to scrutiny, so the Court may duck that issue. If they do, Gura's got other cases waiting to settle that issue.

      We'll see how it all plays out, but I'm more hopeful than I've ever been.
