An unsubstantiated rumor is going around the New Orleans area.

    Story circulating in New Orleans

    With appropriate caveats:

BP contracted Schlumberger (SLB) to run the Cement Bond Log (CBL) test that was the final test on the plug that was skipped. The people testifying have been very coy about mentioning this, and you’ll see why.

The blog post basically says Schlm helid in, said they would do the CBL because the well was kicking too hard (?) and asked to be helid off.  BP man said no helis availabe so Schlm guy called Schlm onshore and at their own expense sent helo to take Sclm people off.  Six hours later the well blew up.

Now, is this part of the Transocean story or is this yet another party involved?  You have to wonder how many regulatory skeletons are going to be unearthed over this (shudder)

    •  Arrgh typo, schlum guy said they would NOT do CBL (1+ / 0-)
