    I mean, we do have a limited government in this country. That has to mean SOMETHING. It seems to me quite absurd that people can be held in criminal custody beyond their sentence. Profoundly absurd. I don't think this can be cavalierly dismissed without some sort of constitutional process beyond court decree.

    While I agree that the Supreme Court should defer to the political process more often than not, it should clarify that certain things need an amendment process.

    If you want to hold sex offenders for life, simply give them life sentences under statute. But don't sentence them to 10 years and then hold them indefinitely.
