    that impinge upon human rights considerations that are not left to the whim of local "community standards."

    Of course, that would involve scrapping the entire legal framework and starting over.  Fine with me, if it weren't for the fact that the people causing the problem in the first place would be charged with devising a solution.

    My personal solution, as the user hpchicago points out, is to avoid any contact with the under-18 set that isn't lavishly supervised by people I trust.  As a gay male -- someone still regarded as a real or potential sex offender by my very nature in large portions of the country -- it's simply too goddamned dangerous.
