    Seriously, I'm not an afficionado, so I wouldn't taste the difference anyway...;-)

    But it baffles me to this day that the powers that be hate Cuba so much that they make the American cigar smokers - many of whom are wealthy Republicans - smuggle their beloved stinkers into the country.

    I hope the Castro brothers exploit this obvious sign of weakness for what it's worth in their propaganda.

      I've seen it in action. Cigar smoking Republicans and other rich Americans who could do something to end the embargo don't, and get theirs smuggled, precisely because their fetish is more exotic that way. They have no risk, and can afford $20 cigars, and get to feel like "rebels". While gloating about their privilege that the rest of us cannot taste.

      Plus, they're mostly dependent on just going along with whatever status quo has made them rich. That's "Conservativism" in a nutshell, at every turn.
