    Replying to the tip jar is often the only way you can make sure the diarist sees your thanks -- or if you need something clarified, especially in diaries that reach into the hundreds of comments. When I have time, I'll go back and review my comments (including the tip jar) and if someone has responded, I can check and see if they had an additional question or were adding something I might want to use for a diary update (with appropriate attribution, naturally).

      if someone replies to the tip jar in one of my diaries, it's usually the grammar police. I've got to remember to stop using my copy Warriners as a doorstop. I think my Chigago Manual of Style is still underneath the toaster....I shoud do somnething about that.
