  •  It does seem like there's always (17+ / 0-)

too much weighing down on the present, with the future looking worse, I agree.

In many ways, this was made in a purposeful manner since Reagan's time, I believe.  That is, in a systematic, driven way of creating a true oligarchy.  The Republicans won by sealing it with eight years of BushCo, but that was the cap on top of decades of prior effort to chip away at shared values, common decency and sort of fair opportunity.  Once common folk bought into worshipping the wealthy - with the ever-implied hope that they would one day be a member - then the greed-heads won.

And, when we look at Native Americans/Indians, situations in Haiti and other places that are pressured by neglect, with far less caring and interest than they deserve, that seems part of the larger worldview we've cultivated here.  Not everyone at DKos, but how everything has shifted in society within the USA - and in many other countries - towards the wrong way of doing things.  Giving all the electronic money to banks and letting them go wild, for example.  Affecting the entire world, eventually.

Hope springs eternal at least.  There's not much else to do but keep on and try, with that hope as a guidepost.
