  •  I don't doubt all that (0+ / 0-)

in fact it sounds about right to me. The reason I say "isolated" though is that (and I will admit much of this is conjecture) in general money sent to the Tri-Cities tends to stay in the Tri-Cities, rather than being spent by people going to Yakima or Walla Walla to do their shopping. No real need to; I doubt there's anything even in Spokane you can't find in the Tri-Cities (and probably not much you'd have to go to Seattle for unless you're hankering for some Louis Vuitton or want to go see some Broadway touring companies).

Or I could be completely wrong, and will freely admit it if I am. Richland was a fine place to grow up, what with KALE Radio (playing Phil Ochs and the Animals, among many others, back in the day), Riverside/Howard Amon park, the hydroplane races in the summer, a great hill to slide down in the winter (the one on the east side of Carmichael JHS), the best schools I can remember ever being involved with, and a unique perspective on World War II and the Manhattan Project. But I like living here in Seattle and can't see myself going back.

You and I are going to spend our sunset years telling our children's children what it was once like in America when 25% of the population was batshit insane.
