    during the Clinton years. The speeches they give to the base follow the same outline as a WWE script. First they call the opposition names. (Socialist, Hitler, un-American.) Then they insult the opposition by describing some unsavory act they supposedly committed (palling around with terrorists, giving away national secrets by publishing torture memos, encouraging the "enemy" with the speech to the Muslim world).  Then they portray themselves (or the audience) as victims, describing how the opponent or his liberal allies have wronged them.  (The media was unfair to me, welfare queens are stealing your paycheck.) Then they issue a threat. (Let's go hunting.)  Then they promise the audience that they are going to take the opponent down. (Take back America!)

    The only thing missing is the sudden appearance of a stand-in for the targeted opponent, who rushes the stage to challenge the hero, followed by an impromptu ass-whipping of said stand-in by the hero.

    Two wrongs don't make a right, but three rights do make a left.
