  •  The point of the diary is that "well-regulated" (10+ / 0-)

    doesn't mean what you think it does in Constitutional language. Regulation as "governed by executively-issued rules" is a 19th and 20th century gloss to the term.

    The car comparison is fallacious too: we require training, licensing, and liability insurance for cars only when taken out on public roads; similarly, to take a loaded weapon in public, the overwhelming majority of jurisdictions already require significant training, licensing, and background checks. We don't have such restrictions for people keeping cars solely on their private property, or transporting them in a car-carrier to someone else's private property (with their permission).
