    pipe, they'll need to keep overpressuring the pipe. As the heavier mud is able to hold back more and more of the oil, they'll be able to back off on the pressure, but there will still be mud coming out the top but at a lower rate, yes. If they can get enough mud in there to put enough weight to counteract the pressure at the bottom of the well (18,000 PSI) then yes, they'll would be able to dial the pressure back to 0 and mud would stop coming out. I doubt they'll do that though. Instead they'll monitor the pressure and once it gets sufficiently low that they're convinced the column is mostly mud, they'll start shoving cement down the line.
