Just what a fucked up place Ky is.

A friend of mine was a mining engineer there at a coal mine.

The stories he used to tell about the people there used to make me laugh so hard, I came close to passing out.

Rand Paul will play well there.

    •  Right, because all of Kentucky is exactly like (5+ / 0-)

a coal-mining town in the mountains, and everyone in the state is a caricature from an anecdote.

This kind of casual bigotry is infuriating.

      •  I don't need caricatures (0+ / 0-)

All I need is a poll showing that Rand Paul has not melted down there after what he's said since he won his primary.

It does NOT speak well for the people of Kentucky.

I live in NC, and while it's decidedly more liberal than Kentucky, I'm still amazed at the casual "you rubes get what you deserve" dismissals that sometimes crop up on here.

Living in a reddish state should does not denote a personal failing.  That's usually where the most work needs to be done!

        •  In a democracy, (0+ / 0-)

the voters absolutely deserve their representatives...

          they elected them.

If Kentucky voters elect Rand Paul their next Senator, then Kentucky deserves Rand Paul, by definition.

And places that consistenly vote for right wing whackjobs do, in fact, deserve to be represented by right wing whackjobs.

Don't like that? Elect different people.
