  •  Wind energy (1+ / 0-)

I know nothing at all about it.  Is it feasible to harness the energy from hurricanes to generate electricity?  Does the technology exist? Would they generate enough energy to be useful?  Just thinking out loud...

(i.e. "shorten" sail) in a big blow.  Maybe put up storm (smaller) sails.  Even take down sails all together and put out a sea anchor (essentially an underwater parachute) to keep 'er headed into the wind and rollers.

I'm thinking wind machines will similarly want to ditch some of the excess wind energy from big storms.  Pretty scary to think about even a well-constructed, well-designed windmill in a 140 knot wind!
