  •  Quite frankly. BP is doing what is expected (5+ / 0-)

    of them.

They are still doing everything they can to protect shareholders and profits. Which by law they are required to do.

That brings us to the more obvious question about decades of our Government being so in bed with the oil industry. After-all there is no other more profitable industry that is so heavily subsidized by US taxpayers through the federal government.

I'm not justifying them... I am just not as shocked that BP and the government agencies are so aligned. This is old news. It is just more apparent today now that the spotlight is on.

    •  I know this is the law. (0+ / 0-)

What I question, though, is how alienating consumers and customers...taking unwise and high risks...ruining the good reputation of a company truly "protecting" shareholders and profits?  For immediate or quarterly big quick bucks?  What about the longevity of being a good and profitable investment?

I apply this to many corporations, not just BP.

    •  Not exactly. (0+ / 0-)

Criminal acts and criminal influenced operations are expressly prohibited.

How was the BP/Halliburton/Transoceanic scheme to skirt safety laws not a criminal conspiracy ???

How was this event not a criminal version of Pearl Harbor, 1941 ???

Frankly, I think America would take another 2,402 dead before seeing the Gulf Coast destroyed. Louisiana is going to be a wet wasteland and Florida is not going to come off much better due to the dispersants.
